Skullgirls encore vs 2nd encore11/2/2023 In summer 2020, allegations of sexual harassment surfaced about MikeZ. However, it wasn't long before an unforeseen implosion put the future of Skullgirls in jeopardy once again. Skullgirls lived on, its rollback netcode sustaining the game beyond its content support, as updates were made to its online infrastructure to improve functionality. This new release of Skullgirls acted as a foundation for the game moving forward, eventually resulting in Skullgirls 2nd Encore's 2015 release, accompanied by numerous updates. After Konami made its move to remove the game, Skullgirls was republished in 2014 as Skullgirls Encore by Autumn Games. This stalled progress on Skullgirls, leaving the Indiegogo campaign to provide funding for the title's future content. The year prior, the two publishers were in the midst of several lawsuits relating to Def Jam: Rapstar. In a 2013 livestream, as reported by Eurogamer, Skullgirls programmer and designer Mike "MikeZ" Zaimont said Konami requested the game be delisted from digital storefronts without notifying developers, likely as a result of Konami and Autumn Games terminating their business relationship.
